Mary Brown Benard

Mrs. Benard, 94, of Charlotte, NC entered the Church Triumphant on Saturday, July 19, 2014.
December 18, 1919 in Huntersville, NC, Mrs. Benard was a daughter of the late William Orr Brown and Minnie Christenbury Brown.
She met her late husband Peter James Benard during WWII and they were married 50 years. The couple would go on to have their two children Lynn and David. Mary and her husband were founding members of Sardis Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for nearly 40 years. She also served in the Stephen's Ministry and taught numerous Sunday School classes. Mary had a true servant's heart. Many lives have been touched and enriched by hers. Her legacy of faith, unconditional love and compassion for others will live on.
She is survived by her two children; Lynn Benard Riley (Tim) and David Benard as well as her two grandchildren; Bree and Ryan Riley.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 1:45 PM to 2:30 PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 with a service following at 2:30 PM at Sardis Presbyterian Church, 6100 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
