Deb gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Institutional Baprtist Church. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and joined the J.A. White Choir where she praised the Lord through song. Deb joined Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in 2005 and was a faithful member of the hymn choir and various auxiliaries until her health no longer permitted her to do so.
Deb was a loving, caring woman and always had a smile on her face. Anytime you would tell her you loved her, she'd say "I love you more". Deb enjoyed talking about the Lord; she had a testimony that she was always willing to share. Though she battled with Scleroderma for many years, her body often filled with unbearable pain. Deb never complained. Whenever asked how she was doing, she always confirmed that "she was blessed, and highly favored". She could be heard saying "Thank You Lord" anytime of the day or night. Deb was so thankful for all the many blessings she had received.
Deb was an Executive Assistant and Customer Service Specialist for former employers NCNB, Wachovia, and Duke Power. She was most recently a Homemaker. Deb was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her best friend and love of her life Steve. Deb and Steve were blessed with over fifteen years of holy matrimony; however they had a friendship which began when they were teenagers.
Deb leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and caring husband Steven Bowden, son, Sanchez Brown; brothers, Gerald B. Massey of New York, Reverand Reginald Masse (Christine), Kenneth L. Massey, and Dr. A.R. Massey (Sharon, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; three step-daughhters, Tamica Rainer, Sandtora Bowden, and Kwentonza Bowden; five grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
