Marjorie Ann Bakke, age 88, of Mankato, died Sunday, June 7 on Martha's Vineyard Island after a short battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the Hodgkin's Lymphoma Society or Grace Lutheran Church.

Marjorie was born on December 21, 1920 in LeCenter, MN to Judge Charles and Elsie (Reichow) Brown. She grew up in LeCenter. Marjorie graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. On June 27, 1943 Marjorie was united in marriage to Einar Bakke and they moved to Lindstrom, MN. Marjorie taught English and was a librarian in New Richland, MN and was then a librarian in the Mankato Public Schools for her remaining years before retirement. She was active in Grace Lutheran Church for many years and was involved with the YWCA Antique Club. Marjorie loved reading, gardening, playing bridge, and traveling to visit family. She dedicated 10 years of her life to the care of her son Chuck in his battle with emphysema.

She is survived by two children and spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchild [survivors names omitted]. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Charles, sister, Judge Ruth Brown, and great-grandchild, Luke Friedman.
