Alsaker, Shirley J. age 82, of Glenwood, MN, died July 4, 2008, while vacationing with her family near Walker, MN. Funeral will be held at 2 P.M. Wed, July 9th at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace, MN. Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 P.M. at the church on the date of service. Arrangements: Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home, Glenwood, MN. 320-634-4466. Shirley Jeanette Brown was born on June 27, 1926, in Westport, MN, to George and Winnifred (Begg) Brown. On May 3, 1947, she married Clarence Alsaker in Glenwood, MN. Their marriage was blessed with 9 children. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. At the time of her death, Shirley's immediate family consisted of four generations - - totaling over one hundred. She loved to cook and spend time with her family. A cookbook with many of her recipes in it will be published this year and dedicated to her memory. Shirley was attending the family's yearly 4th of July gathering at Acorn Hill Resort, Leech Lake, MN, when the Lord took her home. She will be missed by her family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will forever remain in the hearts of all whose lives she touched. Shirley is survived by her husband, Clarence of Glenwood, MN; their 9 children, Lavonne Pederson, Charlene (Regan) Swedeen, Diane Hinzey, Sandra (Robert) Hughs, Gordon (Roxanne) Alsaker, Wanda Vickstrom, Barbara Kindseth, Gregory (Cindy) Alsaker, and Cindy (Mark) Soderquist; 33 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 6 sisters, Carol, Beverly, Kathy, Almeda, Laverle and Sharon. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as sisters & brothers.
