Mrs. B.E. Bailey, wife of Chester Bailey, Superintendent of the Cotton Factory, died yesterday morning, at her home on Wall street, at the age of fifty-seven years. Mrs. Bailey had suffered severely for months, and from time to time has been so low that death was expected at almost any moment, and then she would rally a little and still linger, until at last the summons came, and she was called home.
She was a woman of many excellencies, and of a character which rendered her respected and beloved by all her acquaintances and friends. With her husband she came to this city from North Adams, Mass., some six years or so ago. Sad changes have crowded into these years. The only son has gone and now the mother and wife is taken, leaving Mr. Bailey bereft of both son and wife. The sympathies of many will be turned toward him in his great trouble.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Congregational church, and arrangements have been made for the funeral to be held at the home to-morrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, and it is expected that Rev. Mr. Sawin will return in time to officiate.
