Carole J. (Buth) Brox was the daughter of Ralph and Wilda Ruth E. Buth. She was the wife of Richard Brox.

BROX.--Carole Brox, a retired School Librarian in the Sweet Home Central Schools, died unexpectedly Wednesday in her Amherst home. She was 72. Born in Lockport, the former Carole Buth was a graduate of Lockport High School and SUNY Geneseo. She earned a master's degree in administration and counseling from the University at Albany. She was a school librarian in Georgia and Birmingham, Michigan, before returning to Lockport in 1970 and becoming librarian at Lockport Middle School. After moving to Amherst in the late 1970s, she became librarian at Sweet Home's Willowridge Elementary School. She retired 10 years ago, but continued to volunteer in the library at Sweet Home Middle School. Mrs. Brox was active in the Teachers Book Club and the University Of Buffalo Women's Club, where she chaired the membership committee. She also was a facilitator in the adult education program for the School Librarian's Association of Western New York. She was formerly an usher at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. She enjoyed gardening and crafts and displayed her painted chairs at craft shows. She and her husband, Richard, would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next June. In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Ralph; two daughters, Rebecca Cook and Robin; four sisters, Kathleen Bennett, Diane Dailey, Ralda Scharstein and Jillayne Yost; and a granddaughter. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Harry A Wedekindt Funeral Home, 280 Grover Cleveland Highway at North Bailey Avenue, Amherst.
