Alfred William Brunt Jr is the oldest of seven children born to Alfred William Brunt and Amelia Richards Stevenson. He loved to tease his younger sisters, roller skate in the basement, and go to the Brunt family cabin at Macks Inn. He earned the Eagle Scout Award and attended the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Irving Ranch, California in 1953. Bill loved boating (in a boat he constructed himself) and hunting. He mastered Morse Code and was very active in ham radio operating. He communicated with people all over the world. Then he got serious about Eileen Pond and sold all his radio equipment to buy her an engagement ring. They married on August 25, 1958.
Bill learned to work helping with the potato harvest in his youth. He also worked as a construction laborer with his dad building homes. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School and excelled at BYU. After three years, he was accepted into George Washington Medical School right in the heart of Washington, DC. To earn his way through medical school, he accepted a position as a mail clerk at 3 a.m. at the Senate Office building on Capital Hill for three years. Following medical school, Bill and Eileen moved to Salt Lake City for an internship and surgical residency at the L.D.S. hospital. Afterward they settled in Idaho Falls and Bill set up his medical practice. Then he earned his pilot's license and bought his own plane. Bill partnered with his father in real estate. He was extremely skilled as a surgeon and well-liked by his patients. He performed surgery along with obstetrics and pediatrics, and also worked in the emergency room at LDS hospital every fourth day. He helped set up the paramedic program in the State of Idaho. Bill was appointed as the Physician and Medical Advisor for the Bonneville County Selective Service Board. He served as a Captain and Commanding Officer of the 238th Dispensary General in the U.S. Army National Reserve. He enjoyed teaching and being the leader for the Medical Explorer Post.
Bill assisted in all of his six children's deliveries: Alfred William III, Steven Pond, Kathleen, Douglas Calvin, Richard David, and Shirleen.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill served faithfully. He served as a Cub Scout leader, Young Married's Leader, Scout Master, and Gospel Doctrine teacher.
Bill's life ended way too soon when he drowned in an accident in Henry's Lake.
