Dorothy Bryson Clary, widow of James McVey Clary, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003.

Born in Mountville on March 28, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Henry Milam and Maude Yancey Yarboro Bryson. Also beloved stepdaughter of Elizabeth Burton Bryson.

Mrs. Clary attended Newberry College and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Debutante Club and an emeritus member of the Junior League.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth "Betsy" Clary Smith and Harold Calhoun Smith III; granddaughters, Zermah Sitton Smith, and Yancey Smith Bergquist and her husband, Scott Eric Bergquist. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Scott Eric Bergquist Jr., and Clary Elizabeth Bergquist.

A memorial service will be held today, Sept. 11, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, with Dr. Steven Vance officiating.

The family will be at 101 W. Augusta Place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thornwell Orphanage or to the charity of one's choice. -- The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
