Services for David Wayne Bucher of San Diego will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Burial will be at the Nevada City Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Bucher died Monday, July 15, in San Diego County from heat exhaustion while hiking. He was 33.
He was born May 27, 1969, in Anaheim to Richard and Sandra Bucher. He graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1987 and San Diego State University in 1995. He worked at Science Applications International Corp. as an MS-Access programmer/analyst. He was in computer development for the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program.

He enjoyed baseball, football, sports memorabilia, hiking, computers and cooking.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Richard and Judy Bucher of Reno; mother, Sandra Bucher of Broken Arrow, Okla.; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Colleen Bucher of Penn Valley; grandmother Marian Bucher of Hawaiian Gardens; nephew, Dillon Bucher, nieces Taylor Bucher of Penn Valley and Alyssa Bucher; stepsister, Sissy Churchill of Reno; and stepbrother, Paul Bailey of Reno.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
