Velma L. Buntrock, 98, Aberdeen and formerly Columbia died Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor. A private burial was held on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Columbia. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Velma Louisa Ringgenberg was born on October 7, 1916 at Columbia, SD to Frank and Lydia (Dunaway) Ringgenberg. This is the area where she grew up and attended school. After school she worked on the family farm. On August 4, 1941 she married Egon Carl Buntrock at Columbia, SD. They made their home on a farm near Columbia until 1971 when they moved into Columbia. Egon died on April 11, 2002 at Columbia and she moved into Aberdeen. In 2012 she moved to Avera Mother Joseph Manor.

Velma was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Columbia. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Velma’s life are her children, Ruth (Virgil) Johnson, Lloyd (Joan) Buntrock, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, brother, Keith (Vera) Ringgenberg.

Velma is preceded in death by her husband, Egon Buntrock, parents, Frank and Lydia Ringgenberg, sister, Vivian Schliebe, brothers, Arthur Ringgenberg, Harley Ringgenberg and Frankie Ringgenberg.
