Alice Evelyn Burke of Missoula went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Riverside Health Care Center.

She was born Christmas Day of 1923 to delighted parents William E. and Florence (White) Stanfill. Alice was to become a very positive and special light in many, many lives - especially those of her large and extended family, whom she was completely devoted to.

Of her many accomplishments, she was possessed of a beautiful singing voice and loved to entertain her friends and neighbors as well as her family throughout her life. In fact, she was offered a professional recording contract as a young wife and mother, but opted to forgo it to stay focused on her family.

Alice was devoted for nearly 20 years to the Foster Grandmother and the Head Start program in local schools. She was also a breast cancer survivor and spent several years as an advocate for that cause as well as spent her adult life always helping the less fortunate!

Alice was preceded in death by husbands J.R. Edgar, Phillip Stokey and Bob Burke; her father and mother; brothers Edmund, Donald and Stanley; sister Eunice Depute and infant sister Mae; and granddaughter Gina Casey.

Survivors include brother Roger of Turner, Ore.; sister Marjory Martin of Superior; daughters Marion Johns (Duane) of Butte, Joy Edgar and Beverly Ruttle of Helena, Shirley Fields and Yvette Adsitt of Las Vegas; sons Donald Edgar (Kathy) of Missoula, Duane Edgar of Maryland and Keith Stokey (Dinah) of Missoula; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, most of whom she had a hand in raising.

She was a longtime member of the Garden City Church of Missoula as well as several others throughout her lifetime.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Garden City Church, 1100 S. Higgins Ave. of Missoula. A reception will follow at the church.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Riverside Health Care for their kind attention during our mother's final days.
