FAIR HAVEN - Mrs. Elizabeth Alice "Bessie" Aubin, 88, died Friday, November 5, 2010 at her home in Fair Haven after a long illness with her family at her bedside.

Bessie was born October 8, 1922 in Whitehall, New York the daughter of the late Roland and Louise (Lewis) Burke. She was a graduate of Whitehall High School in Whitehall, NY.

She married Clarence H. "Kiber" Aubin on February 19, 1944 and the couple made their home "Around the Mountain" in Whitehall, NY all of their married life. Soon after the death of her husband of forty-four years, on October 22, 1988, she and her sister-in-law moved to nearby Fair Haven to be closer to her son and his wife.

While living in Fair Haven, Bessie became a communicant of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven and together with her sister-in-law they met and befriended several other senior citizens. They enjoyed the weekly outings with the senior's group and various short trips throughout the states of Vermont, New Hampshire and New York. In her earlier years while living in Whitehall she was a communicant of Notre Dam Des Victories Catholic Church, presently known as Our Lady of Hope Church, and also a former member of the St. Anne's Society of that church. Bessie and several of her sisters were avid bowlers in their younger years and were all members of the same team at the Elks Lodge in Whitehall.

Bessie is survived by her son, Jim Aubin and his wife, Rudy, of Fair Haven, her two sisters, Anne Brown of Queensbury, NY; Agnes LaMore of Whitehall; her brother, James Burke of Alplause, NY and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her daughter-in- law's family and her special care giver, Anne Reed, all of which provided so much love and support along with excellent end of life care for Bessie. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Colleen Ross, Helen Manor and Madeline Beebe; her sister-in-law, Iris C. Aubin; and a special niece whom she raised, Hallie C. DeMassio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church with Rev. James A. Lawrence officiating. Private burial will be in Green Mount Cemetery in Whitehall, NY at the convenience of her family.
