Mrs. Mary Bryant, who had resided for 56 years in Napa county and for 44 years in the Tucker District, passed away at her home on Silverado Trail Monday morning of last week. She had been in failing health for the past three years or more, having been an invalid since suffering a fractured hip in a fall three years ago. She was nearly 83 years of age.
Mrs. Bryant was a native of Missouri, where she was born January 10, 1870. At the age of 26 she came to California to visit a brother, Abner Burke, and family, who lived near Calistoga. Here she met and married William H. Bryant, member of one of Calistoga's earliest families.
For years the Bryants lived on their farm in Tucker district, and following Mr. Bryant's death in December, 1930, continued to reside on the old home place, her daughter, Mrs. Olive Hague, and family living nearby. She was a long-time member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are five children, Martha Bryant and Olive Hague of Calistoga, Leonard A. Bryant of Berkeley, Leslie H. Bryant of Vallejo, and Henry L. Bryant of Novato. She also leaves nine grandchildren, six great grand-children, two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning of last week at the Simic Funeral Chapel in Calistoga, with Rev. Harry C. Porter of the Calistoga Community church officiating. Cremation followed in Santa Rosa.
