Ronald J. Burkett, 65, passed away July 5, 2016 at Elaine Center of Hadley. Born in Holyoke on November 30, 1950 to the late Gerald and Patricia Burkett, he was a maintenance mechanic at Mastex. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., he served his country in Vietnam. Predeceased by his parents and son Ronald Burkett, II, he leaves his loving wife of 37 years, Sharon (Madden) Burkett and son Sean Burkett of Chicopee; brothers Robert McIntyre (Denise) of NC, Richard Sorbi and friend Karen, Randall Sorbi (Sherri) and Robert Sorbi all of South Hadley, Rodney McIntyre of Chicopee and David McIntyre of CT; 5 grandchildren; brother-in-law Michael Madden of TX; sisters-in-law Laura Squires of Palmer, Christina Valdez and Cynthia Parent (David) of FL and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held July 15, 2016 beginning at 8:30 AM at New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC 25 Mill Street, Springfield proceeding to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery for burial with military honors.
