Patrice F. Burkett of Windham, NH passed away Saturday, July 19th, at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston.

She leaves a husband Wayne, two daughters, Lee C. Burkett of Lynnfield MA, and Jill B. Lowrey and husband Nate of Dover NH. She has three active grandsons, Kyle Surdam, Colin Surdam and Jake Lowrey plus a darling new granddaughter, Anna Lowrey.

Born in New York City, daughter of William W. and Patricia Breen Farris, Patrice grew up in Garden City, Long Island and was an alumna of Elizabeth Seton College in New Rochelle, NY. Patrice was a marketing communications professional serving in management positions in many software and high technology companies in the Greater Boston area including Raytheon Service Company, Software International, NSS Corporation, Lois Paul & Partners, Avid Technologies and finally as an independent marketing communications consultant to various clients. Her large network of marketing associates benefited from her knowledge, her leadership and her mentoring skills.

A loving and beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend and wife, Patrice's quick smile, expressive face and infectious laugh was always present. If a friend needed an 'endorphin-fix', a conversation with Patrice always released stress through laughter. She always put others feelings and needs above her own. She was the eternal optimist even throughout her illness. Her positive attitude, internal strength and strong faith was evident to all, allowing them to treat Patrice as the person she was instead of as the cancer patient she did not want to be. "Cancer will not be the boss of me", was her motto.

She loved flower gardening and always kept just the right vase or basket and other supplies on-hand to assemble the perfect centerpiece. She was an excellent cook. Her cookie baking always resulted in holiday or 'just because' cookie baskets for her many friends...many of whom choose not to share the bounty with others as she had intended. Patrice loved to travel. She and Wayne enjoying several trips to her parents' Portugal winter vacation villa and they finally got to spend time in the Canadian Rockies, Hawaii and Italy in 2005 and 2006. They also traveled across the US in an RV, touring the south and southwest on the 'Canyon Tour' to Canyon de Chelly, the Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion National Parks.

In addition to her mother, Patricia Farris of Peabody MA, she leaves two brothers, Bart Farris and his wife, Lois MacDonald, of Taunton, MA and Greg Farris and his wife, Linette, of Pelham NH. She leaves two sisters, Alicia Treichler and her husband Charles of North Vancouver, B.C. Canada and Deirdre Wielgus and her husband Mark Cochran of West Chester, PA. She had eleven nieces and nephews. Her father, William W. Farris preceded her in death in March 2008.
