SOUTH PASADENA - Josephine M. Baker-Hanlon, 91, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, in Encinitas of natural causes.

Born June 2, 1913, in Fresno, she lived in South Pasadena and Altadena for 35 years. She retired in 1976 from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department. She was a registered nurse for 41 years. She enjoyed traveling and reading.

Mrs. Baker-Hanlon was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hanlon, in March 2004.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Rachel Hanlon of San Diego, and Edward and Caroline Hanlon of Ashland, Ore.; daughters and son-in-law Carole J. Gore of Encinitas, and Wendy and Stephen Bott of Seattle; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside. A private cremation is planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 8555 Aero Drive, Suite 308, San Diego, CA 92123.

Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Pasadena/Altadena, 91 passed into eternal life on Saturday November 20, 2004 in Encinitas, CA.She was born Josephine Marie Burkhardt on June 2, 1913 in Fresno CA. Jodi was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Edward (Jack) Hanlon in March 2004. She is survived by her daughters and son in law Carole J Gore of Encinitas and Wendy and Stephen Bott of Seattle WA, and sons and daughters in law Bruce and Rachel Hanlon of San Diego, Edward and Caroline Hanlon of Ashland, OR. 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Josephine worked as a RN for 41 years. She worked for the L A County Sheriffs Department in both the men's and women's facilities for 23 years until she retired in 1976. She then loved to travel the world, read and enjoy her family.
