7/15/1925 - 2/23/2014
Interred: March 21, 2014
Plot: 77 WWWS No. 1 (with husband Howard R. Burnett)
Cremated
Marjorie J. Burnett
July 15, 1925 ~ February 23, 2014
Resident of Saratoga
Marjorie J. Burnett, 88, of Saratoga died on February 23, 2014. She was born July 15, 1925 in Jacksonville, IL to J. Everett and Margaret Johnson.
She graduated in 1943 from Sacred Heart Academy in Springfield, IL. She married Howard R. Burnett (1925-2003) in 1946 in San Diego, CA. They moved to Saratoga in 1958.
She enrolled in college mid-life, lacking only one class to complete her degree. Marge was an inspired hostess, accomplished golfer (TWO holes-in-one!), indefatigable and gifted bridge player and teacher, enthusiastic traveler, devoted 49er faithful, and supportive wife to Howard, and mother to Brad Burnett (1958-2008) and Susan (Thomas) Luten of Berkeley, who survives her.
Marjorie's life was a study of friendship: she made fast friends in every aspect of her life. She will be missed by many. Her memorial mass will be on March 20, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga. Margie suffered from a lung infection for much of her life: she died of pneumonia.
A gift to the American Lung Association would be a fitting remembrance in lieu of flowers and a hug for each of your friends would be a touching tribute.
