SUNNYVALE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Elise Schurra Burnett, 84, pioneer Sunnyvale resident who moved here in 1898 when the town was still called Murphy Station, will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Rosary services will be held at 8 o'clock tonight in the Chapel of Wyant and Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burnett, whose family built many of the structures in the old Murphy Avenue business district, including the Sunnyvale Theater, died Saturday morning in an area hospital after a brief illness. {San Jose Mercury News, January 31, 1978}
