Bruce W. Burns, a former Orange County resident, died in his home on May 22, 2015, the day after his 76th birthday. Bruce was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 21,1939, to Vernon and Winifred Burns. The family moved to Steuben County in the northeast corner of Indiana where Bruce graduated from Metz High School. He graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana with degrees in music and math. Bruce and his family moved to Orange County in 1968 where he was the band director at Washington Middle High School in La Habra, and later the band director at Cerro Villa Middle School and Canyon High School in Orange Unified School District. He ended his teaching career as a math instructor at Villa Park High School. He had recently moved to Las Vegas where he resided at the time of his death. Bruce is survived by his sons, Brian of Las Vegas, Nevada and John of McKinleyville, California; granddaughter, Jade Julie; brothers, Leonard Burns of St. Louis, Missouri and Duane Burns of Edon, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private interment will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach on Friday, June 12, 2015.
