Obituary
Mrs. J. G. Busch departed from this life at her home in Potter valley on Monday, October 11, 1920, at the advanced age of 83 years, 9 months and 16 days. Gathered at her bedside at the time of her death were ten members of her own family and her devoted nurse, Mrs. Jane Wilson, who had been in constant attendance for nearly seven months. She leaves to mourn her loss ten children as follows: J. J. Busch, G. H. Busch, O. W. Busch, A. F. Busch, Mrs. W. S. Bevans, of Potter valley; C. A. Busch, of Ukiah; Mrs. J. M. Roberts, of Santa Rosa; Mrs. E. E. Holbrook, of Martinez; Mrs. J. L. Bailor, of Spokane; and Mrs. R. M. English, of Imperial. Other near relatives in Potter valley are Mrs. Sarah Sweeney, and family.
Mrs. Busch, whose maiden name was Ann Sweeney, was born in Sligo, Ireland, December 24, 1836. She came to this country with her parents at six years of age, and the family settled in Wisconsin. In this state her older sister married, raised her family, and lived her life, passing away about a year ago. She came with her four brothers, James, Michael, John and Owen Sweeney in the early days of the gold period to Placerville, California, where she was married to J. G. Busch August 21, 1856. The couple came to Potter valley in 1864 where they resided continuously up to the time of their deaths. They celebrated their golden wedding on August 21, 1906, with a family reunion at the old homestead, at which the entire family consisting of father, mother and eleven children, were all present. Her husband, J. G. Busch, died at the family home in this valley on June 19, 1910, and a son, S. H. Busch passed away on March 21, 1920.
