US Senator. Born in Miller, Hand County, South Dakota, she was the wife of US Senator and 16th South Dakota Governor, Harlan J. Bushfield. She graduated from Stout Institute Wisconsin, in 1912, plus attended Dakota Wesleyan University and the University of Minnesota. In October 1948, she was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her husband Harlan J. Bushfield and served until her resignation on December 26, 1948. She died at age 86 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
