Margarita Arenas, 90, passed away on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, in Alamogordo. She was born on Oct. 17, 1923, in Los Lirios, Durango, Mexico, to Francisco and Filomena Jurado Bustamante.
Survivors include her son, Carlos and his wife Flora Muñoz and her daughter, Yolanda Carabajal, both of Alamogordo. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth Briseño and her husband Mike Briseño; Carlos R. Muñoz and his wife Rene Muñoz; Sylvia Gerber and her husband Mike Gerber; Linda Bentley; Margaret Walborn and her husband Donald Walborn; Adolfo Carabajal and his wife Amy Carabajal; David Carabajal and his wife Anna Carabajal; along with 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vivan Arenas; her brothers Clemente and Alfredo Bustamante; her sisters Aurora Estrada, Dolores Bustamante, Tina Herrera, Demetria Bustamante and Amada Bustamante, and her great grandson, Nicholas Walborn.
The Rosary for Margarita will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will follow the rosary at 10 a.m., with Father Mike Lindsay acting as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ryan Gerber, Jacob Gerber, Brandyn Gerber, Matthew Briseño, Rhett Muñoz, Michael Bentley, Tyler Bentley, Kiley Walborn and Ashlie Muñoz, Lauren Briseño, Briana Briseño, Kaitlyn, Megan and Miah Carabajal as honorary pallbearers.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
