R. Betty Alexander, 86, of Union, died Feb. 7 at her home. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh St., with Sally Wiens officiating. Burial will follow at Cove Cemetery.

Mrs. Alexander was born Sept. 30, 1915, to Claude L. Cad and Mary Williams Cadwell in Union. In 1947 she married Kenneth Alexander in Reno, Nev. The couple farmed at High Valley for many years, and she worked in retail sales before and after her marriage. She and her father had Cadwell Mercantile in Union. After her fathers death, she continued to run the business for several years before selling it. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of the Cove Sportsmens Club. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, fishing and camping.

Survivors include her husband of Union; a sister-in-law, Leora Simmons of Cove; a brother-in-law, Scotty Baker of Union; and other relatives.

Memorials may be made to the Oregon Heart Association or any charity in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
