Catherine Belle Burns, age 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2016 peacefully at her home. Catherine "Kitty" was born on November 8, 1944, the daughter of Carl and Susan (Thrush) Caesar, was raised on Island Road and attended Hubbardston Elementary and Carson City High School. Soon after graduating she met the love of her life William Burns. Considering him "fresh" at first, she soon fell in love and a wedding took place followed by the births of their children: Tammy, Angela and Bradley.
Although Dad was taken from her early in their marriage, she forged on raising three children by herself. Mom had a keen interest in Bingo, working in the yard, country rides, planting flowers and watching the many birds at her house. Anyone could always count on her for a hot cup of coffee and a listening ear at her kitchen table. She loved to spend time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always thinking of activities she could do with them.
Her calling in life was to spend time with the sick and elderly and she had a special knack in giving them comfort in their final days.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband, William James Burns; two sisters, Norma and Joyce; and a brother, Gary. Surviving are her children, Tammy Burns of Hubbardston, Angela & Matt Thorn of Portland, and Bradley Burns of Hubbardston; her grandchildren, Calee & Jared Allen, Abigail Thorn, and Emma Thorn, all of Portland; and two great grandsons, Caiden Allen and Mason Allen , both of Portland. Also surviving are her brothers, Don & Karen Caesar, Dan & Peg Caesar, Cal & Nancy Caesar, James Caesar, and Michael Caesar; a sister-in-law, Virginia Caesar; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 342 S. Washington Street, Hubbardston, where the Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
