Mrs. Joan Marie Allen Riordan, of Trenton, passed suddenly into our Lord’s hands on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015. Born Joan Marie Cairns in Fort Pierce on November 3, 1931. Joan married Robert Allen on October 11, 1953 and moved to Palm Bay in 1960. Joan was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Melbourne. They had 5 children together. Robert preceded Joan in death in 2001.
Joan was blessed to be reconnected with her former high school friend, Denis Riordan. They were married February 12, 2005 and moved to Gilchrist County where she was welcomed by Denis’ children and grandchildren. They enjoyed 10 years together before Denis’ passing in April, 2015.
Joan is survived by two sisters, Mary McAvoy and Helen Barrington; was preceded in death by brothers James and Michael Cairns; she is survived by her five children, Michael Allen, Gail Allen (Kevin) Kettner, Joyce Allen (Bill) Sanchez, Steve (Kim) Allen, Brian (Gwen) Allen; and Denis’ children, Timothy (Susan) Riordan, Sheila Riordan (Mike) Lovelace, Terrence (Kathy) Riordan, Denis (Margaret) Riordan, Jr., Patrick (Araceli) Riordan, John (Suzanne) Riordan, Matthew (Annmarie) Riordan, Brian (Patti) Riordan; 35 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13th. The funeral Mass was held on Saturday, Nov. 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Palm Bay.
