Ann (Callaghan) Boyle was born in Ireland. She married John J Boyle about 1857. They were the parents of 6 children (the elder 2 preceding her in death): John T, William L, James P, Eugene J, Michael T, and Ellen M "Nellie".

Ann and John resided 4 miles northeast of Carthage in Wilna township where they farmed and raised their family. Ann died July 29, 1887, at the age 57.

*****
Watertown Re-Union August 8, 1887:
"The family of John Boyle, of Wilna, is sadly afflicted by the irreparable loss of a devoted wife and loving mother who departed this life July 29th. Her two sisters, Mrs. Ball and Mrs. Montgomery of Watertown, have lost a good, kind sister and her other neighbors, relatives and friends will sadly miss the one that was always ready to assuage the grief of others.

Deceased was born in Ireland in 1829. At an early age she came to America. Some thirty years ago she married John Boyle, who with four children survives her. To him and the motherless ones much sympathy is extended, especially the only daughter, aged 15, who so faithfully cared for her mother during a long illness and who is now deprived of a mother's care; but they that are afflicted should be consoled by the thought:
- 'Blesssed are they that die in the Lord,
- There they will surely find rest;
- Our friend has gone to her last reward,
- You will meet her one day with the blest.' "
