Dorothy Barnes passed away after a lengthy illness in Longview, Texas on June 28, 2009. She was born on June 23, 1922, the oldest child of Johnny and Lottie Calvin. She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Robinson; son, Skip Barnes; her youngest son and his wife, Richard and Dortha Barnes; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A resident of Dallas until 1965, Mrs. Barnes has been most recently living in Gilmer, Texas; after over 20 years in Kemp, Texas, and several years in Waxahachie, Big Sandy, and Bismarck, Arkansas. Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Barnes; her parents; and all her siblings. In addition to the survivors mentioned, Mrs. Barnes left behind many loving nieces and nephews, and their children. Services for Mrs. Barnes will be held at Laurel Land in Dallas. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 30 from 6pm until 8pm, and the service will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, July 1. Internment will follow in the park.
