Registered nurse, graduate of Packer Institute in Brooklyn and of Kings County Hospital Training School for Nurses. She married at Juliustown NJ on January 9, 1918, Norman K. Batten who was at the time stationed at Fort Dix. Mr. Batten, born April 30, 1893 East Orange, New Jersey, became a race car driver and three times competed in the "Indianapolis 500." When Mr. Batten was on his way to participate in races in South America in November 1928, the Battens were passengers on the steamship SS Vestris. The ship sank on November 12: Marion survived but Mr. Batten did not.
