GRAFTON, Vt. Jan. 20
-Rev. Dr. Walter Harriman Cambridge, a native of this town, but for most of his life a resident of California, has died in Colombo, Ceylon, according to information reaching here today.
He was an Episcopal rector and former president of the standing committee of the diocese of California. At the time of his death he was on his way to Honolulu. He retired in 1934 after serving 23 years as rector of the Church of St. Matthew in San Mateo, Calif
Before going to California, Dr. Cambridge served in Massachusetts, and for five years was examining chaplain of the Diocese of Massachusetts. From 1895 until 1911 he was assistant master of St. Mark's School in Southborough.
He was a son of Henry and Achsah Sherwin Cambridge, attended Vermont Academy and the University of Vermont, receiving his bachelor of philosophy degree in 1894; a master of arts degree in 1909 and the honorary degree of doctor of divinity in 1924. He was ordained a deacon in 1896 and priest two years later.

Death of Rev. Walter H Cambridge, rector emeritus of the Church of St. Matthew, San Mateo, Cal, occurred at Colombo, Ceylon, while on a world tour, according to word received here yesterday.
The Rev. Mr. Cambridge was born in Grafton, January 18, 1866, and was graduated from the University of Vermont here in 1894. He studied theology under Bishop A. C. A. Hall during the next three years after being graduated here and for 14 years was master at St. Mark's School in Southboro, Mass. He became rector at St. Matthew's Church in 1911 and retired in 1932.
In his immediate family, he is survived by one brother.
