Andrew Jan (Andy) Campbell was born in Beckley on September 18, 1943 and was a lifelong resident of Beckley. He passed away suddenly after a happy and fulfilling life on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the age of 68.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jennings Campbell and Rhelda Burleson Campbell.

Andy attended Augusta Military Academy, graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Beckley College, where he later served on the Advisory Board. He owned and operated Jan Campbell Music Company and Beckley Music Center at Raleigh Mall. Andy also owned and operated AJC News & Gifts at the Ramada Inn and was a partner in On Your Way Travel Agency. Recently he owned and managed several rental properties.

Andy enjoyed his home at Flat Top Lake for 10 years and later wintered in Florida where his favorite activities of golf and walking outdoors could be enjoyed year around. He was a member of Black Knight Country Club and Glade Springs Resort.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Swan Campbell and his cousins: Curtis Hampton (Buddy) Thomas and wife Rosalie, and their children Gina Workman (Bob) and children and Curt Thomas (Amy) and their children; Susan Burleson Davis and Ellen Burleson Di Lorenzo and their children.

Andy is also survived by his family by marriage: sister-in-law, Theresa Gregory, niece Catherine Inda (Dale) and their three children Andrew, Matthew and Monica; nephew David Gregory (Jemia) and their three children Justice, Jaden and Addison; and sister-in-law Monica Dozier and brother-in-law Bill Dozier and nephew, Dennis Dozier; and special cousin Celia Weldon (Owen Joseph) and daughter Kathleen. Another special friend and co-worker is Jimmy Nicholson.

Andy will be missed by his family and friends who will remember him as a helpful, dependable and cheerful man. May his soul rest in peace.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12th at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Monsignor Samuel Sacus will be the celebrant assisted by Rev. Mr. Donald Wise. The Rite of Committal will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.

There will be a dinner following the service in the St. Francis de Sales Hall.

The family will receive friends at the Melton Mortuary Chapel on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A Vigil Prayer Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. by Rev. Mr. Jay Ziolkowski.

Pallbearers will be David Gregory, Dennis Dozier, Dale Inda, Jimmy Nicholson, Carl Gable, Jack Phillips, Shane Sarrett and Bruce Blankenship.
