He was born at Bristol in 1911 and in WW2 served in the 140th Battery, 8th Light Anti Aircraft Regiment of the Royal Artillery, as a Bombardier (Service No. 1645842).

Robert was based at the Tonfanau Military Camp at Llangelynin, in Gwynedd, Wales, which specialised in training personnel in anti-aircraft artillery.

He died at Cardiff, Wales, on the 30th of August 1941(circumstances unknown) aged 30 years. He was buried at Greenbank Cemetery, Eastville, Bristol, Plot VV822, and is also commemorated on panel 3 of the Screen Wall War Memorial at the cemetery.
