John was the son of Vincent and Maria L. (Volpini) Campello.

John F. Campello, of Lynn, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at the age of 96.

He was the beloved husband of the late Ida (DelCampo) Campello, and the father of Mary Ann Ronan and her husband Edward S. Ronan of Marblehead. Devoted grandfather to Bart J. Ronan, Edward S. Ronan Jr. and Anne E. Ronan. John graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge in 1934.

He was a project engineer for Stone and Webster Engineering in Boston, involved in the design and construction of various power plants, including the petro chemical refining plant in Edinburgh, Scotland, and one of the first nuclear power plants, located in Rowe, Massachusetts and Fr a n k f u r t , Germany. John was an avid golfer at the Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead for over 30 years.

He and his late wife, Ida, were enthusiastic ballroom dancers.
