Marie T. Barbarevech, 75, of Duryea, died Friday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Barbarevech, on Jan. 29, 1992.
Born in Pittston, daughter of the late Patrick and Helen Rome Capone, she was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and Marywood College. Before her retirement, she was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.
She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Christopher Barbarevech and wife, Teresa, Moosic; two granddaughters, Kristiana Barbarevech and Karissa Barbarevech, both of Moosic; a brother, Gaetano Capone and wife, Barbara, Yatesville; niece, Alexandria Capone, Philadelphia; and faithful companions, Spunky, Kaylee and Salmon.
The family would like to thank the staff of Geisinger Community Medical Center for the care and compassion that was shown to Marie and her family.
The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston. Entombment will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
