Mrs. Elder Lee Ayers Carey, 83, of Canon, GA passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Carey was born in Carnesville, GA on January 01, 1932, daughter of the late George Mitchell Ayers and the late Martha Jane Pritchett Ayers. She was a retired machine operator having worked with Coats & Clarke Manufacturing. Mrs. Carey was a member of the Double Branches Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her husband, JC Carey; daughters, Ernestine Carey and Debra Carey; brothers; Clifton, Grady and Nelson Ayers; and sister, Reatha Roberts.
Survivors include her sons, Wendell K. Carey and Wayland S. Carey both of Canon, GA; daughters, Alice Stewart of Jacksonville, FL, Martha Music of Canon, GA, Karen Noah of Haleyville, AL, and Betty Etheridge of Lady Lake, FL; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Quida Mae Ayers of Conyers, GA and Rudene Busby of Franklin Springs, GA.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carey will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cory Pulliam officiating. Interment will follow in the Middle River Baptist Church Cemetery in Carnesville, GA.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening. The family is at the home.
