Cloteel Atkins, 80 years, of Anderson, Missouri passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Cloteel was born Mary Cloteel Carlin to the late, Frank and Mary (Fisher) Carlin on April 21, 1935 on Carlin Ridge at Rocky Comfort, Missouri attended by Dr. Edmonson of Stella, Missouri. She graduated from Rocky Comfort High School in 1952 and Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri with a BS in Education and a minor in Business. Cloteel married Harold Laverne Atkins on August 18, 1956 in Splitlog, Missouri. They had one son, Douglas Laverne Atkins. Doug and his wife, Iva reside on a farm next to the home farm. She was a farmer, 30 years retired Educator and a retired McDonald County Official for 16 years. Cloteel was of Primitive Baptist belief and attended the Loveland Primitive Baptist Church throughout her life. Cloteel loved having an open and well-run County Collector's Office where taxpayers, former students and their offspring could all feel welcome and leave with a smile. They were paying her salary and she was thankful for the joy and work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Atkins; a sister, Maxine Waters and her husband, Jack; two brothers, Vernie Joe Carlin and Maynard (Doc) Carlin; two nephews, Jackie Waters and Roger Carlin.

Cloteel is survived by her son, Doug Atkins and wife, Iva of Anderson, Missouri; grandchildren, Seth Douglas Atkins, Chelsea Karin Thornburg, Caitlin Sarah Seidel, Matt Seidel, Neill and Season Ferrell and Andrew and Vergie Ferrell; great grandchildren, James, Skyler, A.J., Dillon, Arthur and Madison; five sisters, Ila Jean Yankovich and husband, Dan, Glenda Busick and husband, Michael, Frankie Meyer and husband, Jim, Bobbie Cameron and Brenda Urso; a sister-in-law, Hueline Carlin; nieces and nephews, Gary Waters, Regina Waters, Karen Juarez, Robert W. Evenson, Robin Morris, Cheryl Parmeter, Danielle Klotzback, Laura Cameron Rabin, Greg Meyer and Janelle Sabo; along with a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Cloteel.

Funeral services for Cloteel Atkins will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Mr. Dan Yankovich will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at this time. Burial will follow the service at the Union Cemetery in Stella, Missouri.
