Edward Carola Air Force veteran and retired USPS employee, volunteered widely in Deptford Edward Carola, loving husband to Claire (Leber) Carola, and father to Barbara (Carola) Hall and Michael Carola (his fiancee, Michele Hoffman), was called to his place in heaven on Monday, April 4, 2016, from his family home in Deptford, N.J. Edward C. Carola was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force (1952-1956) and had dutifully served his country during the Korean War.
Ed went on to work for the U.S. Post Office in Deptford for 30 years. He also enjoyed serving his community. Ed started the Deptford Midget Football Skeeters 65 lb. team; volunteered many hours alongside friends and his loving wife, Claire, with Meals on Wheels for 20 years, and was active in the senior center.
Ed and Claire were always busy with day trips, visiting family, and could often be spotted dancing cheek to cheek at various functions. Ed had a love affair with his beautiful bride, Claire, for 58 years.
He was a loving brother to Joseph, Lou, Paul, Caroline "Lil" (Carola) Advena, Lawrence and Susan Carola. While he will be missed greatly, he leaves behind many wonderful memories with grandchildren and their significant others: Brian and Amy Hall, Kyle Carola and Ashley Blubaugh, Brittany Hall and Kyle Ebeling, and Anthony Carola; great-grandsons, Carter and Logan Hall, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. "Pop" will always be in our hearts. Edward C. Carola, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather, he has a long line of people who will forever keep his memory alive.
Viewing will be held at the Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, N.J. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Williamstown, N.J. Earle Funeral Home 122 W. Church St. Blackwood, N.J. 08012
