OBITUARY:

Brown, Helen Alford, 95, born December 18, 1903, died May 5, 1999. Helen attended Frances Shimer School and the University of Chicago. In 1922 married Clarence A. Brown. In 1941 they moved, with daughters Eleanor and Nancy to Westwood in Los Angeles, California. A descendant of Miles Standish, Helen Brown was active in civic affairs and P.E.O. Sisterhood. After her husband's death in 1971, she welcomed visiting Japanese students into her home. Since 1982 she resided in the California P.E.O. Home in Alhambra.

Known affectionately as "Bam Bam" to her devoted family and many friends she will be remembered fondly for her lively spirit and inquiring mind, her love for nature and animals, her kindness and generosity to people of all ages and backgrounds.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Eleanor Harder (Ray) and Nancy Karenbrock [sic: Karrenbrock] (Rodger) of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Dan Harder, Julie Oakes, Debra Stevenson, Jill Karnebrock [sic: Karrenbrock], and Sharri Earnest, and beautiful great grandchildren, Camden, Sasha, Joseph, Nathaniel, Brock, Chance, Geneva, and Sean.

We miss you Bam Bam.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday May 10, Westwood Village Memorial Park.
