Sybil was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, John D. Dormier and second husband Melvin Breckenridge, Mother Jeffie Carr, Father D C Carr, Sister Kathryn Ivey, Brother Claiborne Carr.
She is survived by her loving daughters Sheila Dormier and Konny Boyd both of Bakersfield: Step-son Melvin and wife Nancy, of Talala, Oklahoma. her dear niece Elouise Alexander and husband Leonard, California, Kathy Eggebrecht of Orange County, California.
Sybil worked for General Dynamics in San Diego, California for 38 years. Through out her life she was a loving caretaker to both family and friends. She gave tirelessly so that others could have a better quality of life. Sybil dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them.
Her daughter Sheila was her greatest love and accomplishment. As an animal lover you could often find her at the park feeding the ducks, cats, birds and any other hungry animal. Always carrying a jar of birdseed and cat treats in her car. She was a fabulous cook and loved making cheese cake from scratch for her family.
Family members feel that Sybil's greatest attributes were honesty, following the 10 Commandants, kindness, and a sweet, and gentle spirit. The Lord was her strength through out her life. Sybil will be deeply missed by both family and friends but we rejoice in knowing that we will be together again in the presence of the Lord.
A special thank you to Lesley Johnson for her loving care. Garden services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary (9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, California) at 10:00 am on Monday May, 2, 2011. Pastor Clyde B Wasdin to officiate. www.bakersfield.com/obits
