Alvan Joseph Carre (1881-1964), 82, died Friday in a local nursing home after a long illness. Funeral will be at 4 p.m. today in the Johnson-Davis Chapel with Rev. A. A. Koestline officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
Mr. Carre had been a resident of Putnam County since 1915, coming from Daytona. He was a retired farmer, and member of St. James Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Sylvia, Palatka; son, John Eugene, St. Augustine; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Stuck, Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Adele Triscall, Fort Lauderdale. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd Monday, 13 Apr 1964.)
