" Nena " It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Helen Carrillo Anaya.
She passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010, surrounded by her family.
Mom was born in Brawley, Ca. on July 1, 1931, to Josefina Morales and Jesus Carrillo.
At the age of 19, she married Frank Anaya, the love of her life, and they were happily married for 53 years.
In 1950, they moved to Fresno and raised four children.
Mom was an intelligent woman who had an inquisitive mind, a thirst for knowledge and a love for art and music. Our home was filled with books on history, art, and novels. Music filled the house as she sang along to her favorite songs in English or Spanish. Her zest for life was apparent in her fantastic cooking. But the center of her life was her love for her children and her family.
She will be remembered always for her smile, laughter and her unconditional love for her family and her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Josefina Chacon; her husband, Frank Anaya; and two daughters, Ann Marie and Gloria Luz.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosalind, and Dahlia Abundis and her husband Gary; sons Frank and his wife Olga, and Abraham and his wife Marjorie; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Light on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Wake to follow at 6:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Chapel of the Light on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
