Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Mass will commence at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 28 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico. She will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery.
Born on June 8, 1919, Guadalupe lived in Calexico then Calipatria where she attended elementary school until the fourth grade. She then moved to Mexico at about the age of 11, where she lived until she married her first husband. She came back to the Valley around 1949, widowed, and began working as a laborer. She then met her late husband, Leonard A. Barriga and they married in 1953. Thereafter she was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress, making beautiful dresses and clothes for her children and grandchildren. She was known for her excellent and delicious cooking.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Carrillo; mother, Teresa F. Carrillo; husband, Leonardo A. Barriga; son, Jesus Barriga; and brother, Salvador Carrillo.
Guadalupe is survived by her sons and their families, Jose C. Calderon of Yuma, AZ, Leonard Barriga of Hanford, CA, and Luis M. Barriga of Yuma, AZ; daughters and their families, Juana Cendejas of Indio, CA, Elena Rodriguez of Indio, CA, Angelina Tatro of La Quinta, CA, Guadalupe B. Garcia of Salinas, CA, and Maria Teresa B. Salgado of El Centro; grandchildren, Evagelina Cendejas, Gonzalo Cendejas Jr., Yvette Gonzalez, Steven Gonzalez, Marcos Rodriguez, Mara Lisa Calderon, Diana B. Barriga, Adam G. Barriga, Graciela Barriga, Jesse Tatro III, Christina Tatro, Dennis Barriga, Jesus Barriga Jr., Diana Barriga, Vanessa Garcia, Antionette Garcia, Antonio Garcia, Richard Barriga, Luis Barriga, Sara Ann Barriga, Albert C. Salgado, and Samantha C. Salgado.
