BAIRD, WILMA (nee Carruthers), 94, of Webster Groves died peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Mari De Villa Retirement Center; loving wife of the late James G. 'Scotty' Baird; cherished mother of James G. Baird, Jerry W. (Leslie) Baird and Janey (Ronald E.) Worthington; beloved grandmother of Stewart (Nicole) Baird, Shannon Baird, Sarah Adams, Meredith Baird and Megan Adams; dear great-grandmother of Alexis Baird; treasured sister of the late Jack Carruthers and James Carruthers; dear sister-in-law of Marie Carruthers; adored aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Wilma was born Sept. 11, 1908, in Campbell Hill, Jackson Co., Ill., the daughter of William Perry and Sarah Jane (Redfield) Carruthers.

She was a devoted member of Webster Hills United Methodist Church for 61 years. She also belonged to the Society of Mayflower Descendents and was active in the Eastern Star.

Wilma loved spending time with her family, playing bridge with her friends, and participating in the church's activities. She will be greatly missed.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Webster Hills United Methodist Church. She will be interred next to her husband in her hometown of Campbell Hill, Illinois.
