Linda "Linda B" Gail Carter Barber was born at home in Wedowee, Alabama, to James Rufus and Emma Mae Carter on December 8, 1948, and raised in Draketown (Haralson County), Georgia until she married her childhood sweetheart, Dennis Barber, on January 2, 1967. They built a life together in Cedartown, Georgia, until they moved to Shalimar, Florida in the Summer of '82. Linda was the second of five children. Her father passed away early in her childhood, and she and her siblings were raised by only their mother. Linda's Mama inspired her core values of Faith, Family and Hard Work, which transcended throughout her life. Linda, along with her mother, picked butterbeans to earn money for her high school class ring in 1966. Linda found her first calling as a mother. She gave life to three children: Donnie, Leisa and Buffie, but many others called her Mom as well. She taught without teaching, preached without preaching. She was a friend to all her knew her, who imparted her wisdom in such a way, she made the recipient feel like it was his or her idea. She was an excellent judge of character – she saw the gift of each person and inspired them to offer it to the world. She never judged, she never shared – she was the gate keeper of all secrets. She loved her own cooking, almost as much as her family did. She lived The Secret before The Secret was a book. Linda B held many jobs throughout her life, but real estate is the one she will be remembered for. When she began her real estate career at the age of 40 she found it was a natural extension of who she already was - the relationships she nurtured in her personal life created a seamless transition to the relationships she developed in real estate. She will be cherished for her grace and diplomacy and loved for her ability to own the dance floor with her classic "Electric Slide" and "The Bump" so powerful she would bump you right off your feet. Linda passed peacefully at home at 1:55pm on April 12, 2016, surrounded by her husband, children, brother, Jimmy Carter, and niece, Connie Miller Bennett. She was greeted in heaven by her father, James Rufus Carter; mother, Emma Mae Carter; brother Kenneth Eugene Carter; Sister Marjorie Louise Miller and husband Daniel; Daughter in-law, Heather Knox Barber. She is survived by her husband: Dennis Preston Barber; brother: Jimmy Carter; sister: Patricia George; Children: Donnie Preston Barber, Leisa Gail Tobler and husband Rob; Buffie Leigh-Ann Amoroso and husband Tony; along with four loving grandchildren and her beloved grand-dog Capone. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. "I will make certain my loved ones know how precious they are to me. I will serve them with my whole heart… with joy and freedom." Mom, I love You
