The Casiraghi family came into the United States on Sept 11, 1849. They landed at New York Harbor on the ship "La Rosa" sailing from Genoa, Italy. The "La Rosa" had a list of only 50 passengers on the ship. Gilbert, Mara and four daughters were listed in the Casiraghi family. Their only son, Louis, came to America earlier with Mara's sister, Josephine, who was married to Henry Nicolaides.

At age 19, Louis enlisted with the Union Army, 3rd AR Cavalry as private - 1st Dec, 1863 at Little Rock, AR.

Louis served in the Confederate States Army in Co. F, C; 10
ARK Infantry; private / also; 36 ARK Infantry

Louis married Jane Havens, December 12, 1867 in Conway Co, AR. She was the daughter of Hiram Wiley and Mary Sparks Havens of Virginia. Louis and Jane had one son, James Calvin Casiraghi, born 3 November, 1868. Louis died in an accident, falling from his barn roof, when his son was very small.

Based on the location of Louis's land, he is most likely buried in the Republican Cemetery where his parents are. There is a stone that has been questioned near his parents graves and it would make sense to be his.
