Alfred "Al" Cassinelli, 71, of Rotonda West, Florida, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013.
He was born Oct. 2, 1941, in Mullens, West Virginia, and moved to this area 13 years ago from White Plains, Maryland.
Al retired as a Detective Lieutenant for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., and he served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Washington, D.C., and enjoyed playing pool and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Julie; sons, Alfred of Maryland, Charles of Ohio, Joseph Lucas of Florida, and Jonathan Lucas of Florida; daughter, Heather Hormel of Oklahoma; sisters, Mary Campbell of West Virginia, and Geneva McGovern of Virginia; brother, Anthony of Florida; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 1, 711 Fourth St. NW, Washington, DC 20001.
Arrangements are by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, Florida.
