Mrs. M. Z. Andrews died Tuesday evening, 2 Dec 1902 at her home just south of Centralia after a brief illness of about ten days.
Augusta Caroline Cathcart was born at Erie, Penn., Nov. 6, 1839. When a girl of fifteen years of age she moved with her parents to Conneaut, Ohio. On April 3, 1860 she was married to M.Z. Andrews. To this union seven children were born, all of whom survive her. George, of Oberlin, Ohio, Charles, of Frankfort, Kansas, Mrs. Guilford, Louis and John of Centralia, Mrs. Thatcher, of Fremont, Ohio, and Mrs George Roden, of Kansas City. These children and her husband
she leaves to mourn her sudden departure.
In 1878 she moved with the family to Kansas and settled in Nemaha County on a farm near Centralia which was the family home for many years. With the exception of six years, the family lived in Frankfort, Kansas, this has been Mrs. Andrews home since coming to this state.
When 13 years of age she united with the Congregational Church of which she was a faithful and useful member up to the time of her death.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home, and were conducted by Rev. Spiker. A large number of sorrowing friends were present at the service.
With the death of Mrs. Andrews this community loses a true Christian woman who was a friend to everyone, and her husband and children have the sympathy of the entire community.
