Princess and Duchess. Griffin Dynasty. By marriage became Countess Consort Palatine of Neumarkt. Year of birth may have been 1390. Catherine and her brother Eric the Pomeranian were the adopted children of their grandaunt Queen Margaret I the Great of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. Eric succeed Margaret as King of that Northern European empire which she had created, and Catherine became the mother of his successor King Christopher. In the negotiaions where Eric was engaged to Princess Philippa of England, Catherine had also been intended to marry Phiippa's brother, the heir to the English throne, but that never materialized.
