Wilma was born to James and Lela Brown on April 1, 1924. She was preceded in death by her twin brother Wilburn, brothers Thomas and Mitchell and sister Loretta, and her husband of 57 years, Stanley.
She is survived by her son, Gary Catherwood (wife Laura) of Springfield and by her 3 grandchildren: Brian Catherwood (wife Hannah), Curt Catherwood (fiancee Crystal Tomlin) & Bethany Catherwood, all of Springfield.
Wilma grew up during the Great Depression and married Stan in 1951 at Springfield's 3rd Presbyterian Church. They were lifelong residents of Springfield and raised their son, Gary, in the home that Stan built himself. Wilma worked at several jobs but primarily was a homemaker and helped in many ways at Christian Bible Church (later becoming Faith Bible Church). Her and Stan's faith in the Lord molded the next 2 generations of her family and her testimony to God's presence in her life made her passing to eternal life on Easter that much more special.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 S. 5th. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Faith Bible Church, 4850 Old Jacksonville Road, Pastor Curt Daniel, officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Faith Bible Church and will go toward missions.
