Irene E. (Catlos) Mikeska, 89, of Gilpin Township, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Our Family's Home in Ford City. A daughter of the late Michael Catlos and Mary (Bringer) Catlos, she was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Kelly Station, Armstrong County.

Irene was a member of the Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gilpin Township, where she participated in the Forks Church Altar Guild. For 13 years, she had worked as a bottling line laborer for the J.S. Finch Co. Distillery Plant in Schenley. She was a member of the United Lutheran Society.

Among her interests were gardening, walking, baking, canning and cooking. She also enjoyed sports and doing word search puzzles. Survivors include her son, Edward J. Mikeska, of Houston, Texas (and his companion Jamie Moon, of Tucson, Ariz.); her daughter, Carol Solomon (Terry), of Gilpin Township; two grandchildren, Eric Solomon and Rachel Merritt (Adam); three sisters, Lillian Yamber (Larry), of Oklahoma, Pa., Helen Gondell (Francis), of Gilpin Township, and Ann Cassese, of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. "Lefty" Mikeska, on July 13, 2005; three brothers, Albert, Milan and Edward Catlos; and a sister, Mildred Berdell.

Friends welcomed by her family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, at CLAWSON FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTER, 170 Main St., Leechburg (724-842-1051). Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Forks Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 253 Forks Church Road, Gilpin Township, followed by funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Terri Landers officiating. Interment following at St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin Township.
