The obituary of Arthur Caudill as published in the November 11, 1948, issue of The Mountain Eagle (page 1):

Arthur Caudill Dies Of Heart Attack

Early Friday morning, Nov. 5, 1948, just after the sun came up God saw fit to call another soul from earth to Heaven, Arthur Caudill of Crown, Ky., a son of Sam H. Caudill and late Oma Combs Caudill died suddenly of heart attack while he was walking in the field gathering his fodder. He had not been well, but was not ill prior to his death. He had resigned from the coal mine work in September and was doing farm work on his own little farm. He was born on Nov. 21, 1894, being 53 years, 11 months and 15 days of age at his passing.

Early in life he met and married Angeline Tyree. To this happy union was born five children, three boys and two girls. Berchel of Benham, Alvin and Verdell of Whitesburg, Mrs. Dishman Collins of Whitesburg and Mrs. Ingram Lester of Phoenix, Arizona.

Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his loss, his father, one brother, six sisters, seven grand children and his many friends.

Arthur was a hard working man, kind, courteous and honest citizen, always willing to lend a helping hand to any one in time of sickness or trouble.

Arthur did not belong to any church but always stood for what was right. The last three days of his life he must of realized he needed a stronger more steadier hand to guide him. He read his Bible at least an hour before retiring. He only lived a few minutes after taking sick, but he must have known he was going for as long as he had breath, he begged for mercy. We know that our God is a Just God, and all is well with our loved one today.

Funeral services at the Sandlick Regular Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 7th, 1948, at 2:00 P.M. o'clock with Elders Charlie Cornett, James Collins and others officiating. Burial in Sandlick Cemetery. Craft Funeral Home in charge of Funeral Arrangements.
